RATTLING SERVICES

At OIS, we understand that effective drill pipe maintenance is critical to safe and efficient drilling operations. One of the most essential steps in the inspection process is Rattling—a cleaning method used to remove accumulated mud deposits, scale, and rust from the internal and external surfaces of drill pipes. This process not only prepares the pipe for accurate inspection but also plays a vital role in preventing long-term corrosion and equipment degradation.

At OIS, we use a specially designed brushing and rattling unit that thoroughly removes rust, dried drilling fluid, and scale from the entire length of the drill pipe. Our brushing units are engineered to handle various pipe diameters and wall thicknesses, ensuring a consistent and efficient cleaning process.

Key steps in the process include:

Mechanical Brushing – High-strength brushes clean both the internal and external surfaces of the pipe, dislodging hardened residues.

Air or Water Blasting (Optional) – For severe cases, pressurized systems may be used to aid in debris removal.

Visual Check and Drying – Pipes are visually examined post-cleaning to confirm debris removal and then dried to prevent flash rusting.

Corrosion Inhibitor Coating – A protective layer is applied to shield the pipe from future exposure to moisture and corrosive elements.
